THE Y FOR

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

We focus our work in three key areas, because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities.

PRYDE
PREVENTION
RECREATION
YOUTH
DIVERSITY
EDUCATION

With support from Jack in the Box Foundation, our innovative PRYDE program seeks to build confidence and self-esteem amongst elementary and middle school youth through a variety of student-led clubs. The PRYDE Program is designed to assist children to make positive life decisions and resist drugs, alcohol, and gang involvement.

The curriculum focuses primarily on developing positive self-esteem, character development, cultural awareness, and team sportsmanship during after school hours. Program activities include homework assistance and academic enrichment, sports, games, arts and crafts, field trips, and special events.

You Can Make a Difference!

The PRYDE Program is made possible through your generous donations to the Mission Valley YMCA Community Outreach Campaign. Thanks to your donations, 270 children participate in the program each year. If you would like more information about how you can help support this valuable program and make a difference in a child's life, please contact Leslie Kehl at 619-298-3576, ext. 11247.
