THE Y FOR

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We focus our work in three key areas, because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities.

Prevention, Recreation, Youth, Diversity, Education

In collaboration with:

With support from Jack in the Box Foundation, our innovative P.R.Y.D.E. program has evolved to meet the specific needs of local schools. Our literacy specialists work with a select group of children in the school's PrimeTime Extended Day Program, using curriculum individually tailored to each student's needs. Our goal is to improve student reading by two to three levels by the end of the year.

In addition, we foster character development and build positive self-esteem in order to resist drugs, alcohol, and gang involvement. We encourage c
ultural awareness and team sportsmanship during after-school hours. Program activities include homework assistance and academic enrichment, sports, games, arts and crafts, and special events.

The holidays were extra special for hundreds of kids and families, thanks to members and staff of the YMCA. Presents for kids, groceries for families, and other items were given to families in Linda Vista who need it the most. More than 1,000 presents, 500 food bags, 200 toiletries bags, and a holiday season to remember for 600 children in the Linda Vista Community! A million gratitudes to all of the amazing members who made a difference for people who really need the help during the Holiday season. Thanks, members, for your donations to the PRYDE Giving Tree. Your generosity provided more than students with a present this holiday season!
