Boys Competitive Gymnastics

 

Boys' Level 4

 
   

Approximately eight boys train on our level 4 team.  Participation in Boys Level 4 team is really about establishing whether your son enjoys competing in gymnastics. Costs are kept low for this level by limiting the number of competitions and keeping them local.  Uniforms are also a lower cost because not as many elements of the full uniform are required for competition. 

Competition participation is at the discretion of the boys’ team head coach

Boys' Compulsory Levels 5-7

  
   

We currently have about 14 boys in the levels 5-7.  Competition fees are higher due to more meets and the possibility for further meet locations. Most meets are either in San Diego or in the LA area.

State championships and region championships require a qualifying score and can be farther away, potentially out of state. If your son qualifies, it is expected that he attend these potentially farther meets. Competition participation is at the discretion of the boys’ team head coach.  See competition fees for more information.

    Boys’ Optional Levels 8-10  
   

We currently have abot 12 boys in our optional levels.  The head coach designs the actual routines preformed, keeping in mind gymnast ability, potential score of the routines, and ability to build upon the skill for further development. 

Competition costs are more expensive for these levels due to the higher cost for the meet entry fees, and more meets are outside of the Southern California area. Region championships are located in the west and national championships can be anywhere in the USA.  Both regional and national championships require a qualifying score. If your son qualifies, it is expected that he attend these potentially farther meets.

Boys Team Overview

     

The Mission Valley gymnastics program, located at the Toby Wells facility, is proud to offer a successful program in both the boys and girls’ gymnastics teams. Both our boys and girls’ team compete levels 4 - 10 through the USA Gymnastics program.

We had USAG State, Regional and National qualifiers last year in both boys and girls gymnastics. Our competitive teams train 2 to 5 days a week (level dependent). To be a part of the competitive team, it is required for gymnasts to compete. All team members must be members of the Mission Valley YMCA, and participation is by try-out only.

Tuition
Tuition is paid monthly through a draft system with either a credit card or checking account. Tuition is the same each month regardless of the number of practices each month. There are no pro-rates or credits given for short team illness, vacations, or “taking a break.” Prices are re-evaluated in June. See fees listed below.

Competition Fees


As with all competitive teams there are additional fees associated with competition. USAG and So-Cal memberships run approximately $75 per year. Uniforms are approximately $350 (prices varies based on what needs to be replaced each year and if used uniforms are available to purchase.) 

YMCA membership is required for team members. See youth & teen membership rates.

Competition fees are re-assessed each year. The cost includes the meet entry fees and the cost for the coach to attend the meet. Each level's competition fees are based on the entry cost of the meet, the number meets, and the location of the meets. Competition fees run between $200 - $1,000 per year, depending on the level.  These costs do not include the cost of the child and family to travel to the meet, or the door fees the gym may charge for family and friends to watch. To be a part of the competitive team, it is required for gymnasts to compete and pay competition fees.
