Girls Competitive Gymnastics

 

Girls’ Compulsory Levels 4-6

  
   

Approximately 24 girls currently train in the levels 4-6. Most meets are either in San Diego or in the Los Angeles area.  Sectionals and state meets require a qualifying score and have the potential to be farther away.

Most girls qualify for sectionals each year and a number of girls qualify for state as well. If your daughter qualifies, it is expected that she travel to the meets. Competition participation is at the discretion of the girls’ team head coach. See competition fees for more information

Each year we participate in the YMCA National competition in July. This is an optional travel meet, and this year the meet is held in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

    Girls’ Optional Levels 7-10  
   

We currently have approximately 20 girls in our optional levels. The head coach designs the routines performed in competition, keeping in mind gymnast ability, potential score of the routines and ability to build upon the skill for further development. Floor routines may require a choreographer to design a routine to go with music. 

Competition costs are more expensive for these levels due to the higher cost for the meet entry fees, and more meets are outside of the Southern California area. There are several qualifying meets such as USAG State, Regional, Western and National (these vary by level), which can be located farther away. If your daughter qualifies, it is expected that she attend these meets.  Competition participation is at the discretion of the girls’ team head coach. See competition fees for more information.

Girls Team Overview

     

The Mission Valley gymnastics program, located at the Toby Wells facility, is proud to offer a successful program in both the boys and girls’ gymnastics teams. Both our boys and girls’ team compete levels 4 - 10 through the USA Gymnastics program.

We had USAG State, Regional and National qualifiers last year in both boys and girls gymnastics. Our competitive teams train 2 to 5 days a week (level dependent). To be a part of the competitive team, it is required for gymnasts to compete. All team members must be members of the Mission Valley YMCA, and participation is by try-out only.

Tuition
Tuition is paid monthly through a draft system with either a credit card or checking account. Tuition is the same each month regardless of the number of practices each month. There are no pro-rates or credits given for short team illness, vacations, or “taking a break.” Prices are re-evaluated in June. See fees listed below.

Competition Fees


As with all competitive teams there are additional fees associated with competition. USAG and So-Cal memberships run approximately $85 per year. Uniforms are approximately $200 (prices varies based on what needs to be replaced each year and if used uniforms are available to purchase.) 

YMCA membership is required for team members. See youth & teen membership rates.

Competition fees are re-assessed each year. The cost includes the meet entry fees and the cost for the coach to attend the meet. Each level's competition fees are based on the entry cost of the meet, the number meets, and the location of the meets. Competition fees run between $600 - $1,300 per year, depending on the level.  These costs do not include the cost of the child and family to travel to the meet, or the door fees the gym may charge for family and friends to watch. To be a part of the competitive team, it is required for gymnasts to compete and pay competition fees.
