PRYDE PROGRAM
Drug & Gang Prevention

The Mission Valley YMCA provides a Pryde after-school
program for students in 3rd through 5th grade at three
elementary schools:

  • Chesterton Elementary
  • Kit Carson Elementary
  • Linda Vista Elementary

The Pryde Program is free to the participants and is held Monday through Friday directly after school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. Activities include homework assistance and academic enrichment, sports, games, arts and crafts, field trips and special events.

The Pryde program is designed to instill in children a positive sense of self-esteem in order to assist them in making good life decisions and in resisting drugs, alcohol and gang involvement. The Pryde curriculum focuses primarily on developing positive self-esteem, character development, cultural awareness and team sportsmanship.

The Pryde program goal is to assist children in developing pride in self, family, community and the future.

For more information on the Pryde program, contact Cristina Sanchez-Kerr, (619) 298-3576, Ext. 1241
