The Mission Valley YMCA
provides a Pryde after-school
program for students in 3rd
through 5th grade at three
elementary schools:
- Chesterton Elementary
- Kit Carson Elementary
- Linda Vista Elementary
The Pryde Program is free to
the participants and is held
Monday through Friday
directly after school dismissal
until 6:00 p.m. Activities include
homework assistance and academic
enrichment, sports, games, arts and crafts, field
trips and special events.
The Pryde program is designed to instill in
children a positive sense of self-esteem in
order to assist them in making good life
decisions and in resisting drugs, alcohol and
gang involvement. The Pryde curriculum
focuses primarily on developing positive self-esteem,
character development, cultural
awareness and team sportsmanship.
The
Pryde program goal is to assist children in
developing pride in self, family, community and
the future.
